WISBY BRIGANDINE SUEDE LEATHER 1361

22th July of 1361 Valdemar IV of Denmark sent a group of armed men to Gotland coast. Locals, poorly armed, didnt stood a chance against Valdemars invading troops. Archaeological remains of this battle has been described as one of the most fearsome revelations of a medieval battle known to archaeologists. There are many studies about armors used on this battle due to the large amount pieces found in the bodies buried in the mass graves. Brigandines offer a protection equivalent to the cuirass but allowing more flexibility because of superposition of bands along a textile or leather body.
