The buckler is a defensive weapon used since the 12th century and it was in use until the 18th century. It is well known that a light and resistant buckler was sought in the civilian environments, able to withstand the attack of the weapons, lighter than those used in war. The boiled leather buckler appears in many written references that talk about the piece itself (Cuir bouilli). This piece has proven to be a perfect balance between protection and lightness.

This model especially has in its center a shield boss of steel which has 2 mm of thickness rimmed by a piece of hardened leather of 9 mm and fixed by 4 rivets; thus achieving a sturdy and extraordinary piece for both defense and attack.

The piece comes with a steel grip and is topped with rose wood with brass rivets. We can find this kind of decoration in similar pieces of that time like knives, because it was a typical style among weapons of this type.
