This is a katana inspired from a Koshirae that was typical of the hunter Samurai (Ryöshi no Bushi). Hunting was a favorite pastime and training activity of the Samurai class of medium and higher rank. The game they hunted was used for tanning leather and thus manufacturing Koshirae, saddles or gloves for falcon-hunting. This katana's Koshirae's style is that of the late Edo period, and was designed based upon historical models. The tsuka is carved in Rikko style, the Same is of high quality, dyed in black. The tsukamaki is braided in Katate with Japanese light-brown suede Ito. Japanese menukis with the Kuchinasi Mon (clan mark). The Fuchi and Kashira, made of darkened copper, are made in Japan . The seppas are of high-quality brass. Hirata (katana expert)-style tsuba, made of bronzed copper. The saya is lacquered brown in traditional style, with tones that imitate the fine sand of the beaches, and crowned with a lacquered Roten, which emphasizes these parts as a whole. The dark brown sageo is braided in the personal style of our shi koshirae. The habaki is made of brass, and hand-carved.
This is a true work of art.
