The voulge or glaive is without any doubt one of the most versatile weapons of the Late middle ages. Even though the model shown belongs to the second half of the 15th century a similar shape will be used during 15th century until almost early 16th century. This is a multi purpose shaft weapon composed by a spearhead, a cutting head and a back spike that makes this weapon half way between a bisarme and a halberd. Due to the simplicity of its design and easy handling, it was very useful on closed formations. This was one of the most popular weapons among infantry from 14th to 17th centuries, being used by both military men and urban militias alike.
