Based on models of 17th century swept-hilt rapiers of German ancestry, the Hanwei Solingen Rapier (Product No. SH2205) is an excellent rendition of the timely originals.
And so is also this matching companion dagger, the Solingen Main Gauche, an authentically styled parrying weapon which is also manufactured at Paul Chen´s factory.
The dagger´s blade is constructed of forged high carbon steel and equipped with a leather scabbard. Its hilt is made from stainless steel (for reduced maintenance) and the guard has a beautiful design with upturned quillons to protect the hand and to wrap the fingers around in order to increase one´s grip strength.
- Forged high carbon steel blade
- Overall length: approx. 43.2 cm
- Blade length: approx. 28.3 cm
- Weight: 340 g
Includes a leather scabbard
This model comes with sharp blade but you can use it for historical fencing, if you change the blade by a compatible OH2256 (blunt blade) made by the same manufacturer.
The steel is untreated and may have rust. To protect the steel you may rub it with mineral or synthetic oil.
Don´t keep the blade in the scabbard for long periods of time because the leather is a hygroscopic material and it can transmit moisture and oxidize the metal.
No returns will be accepted due to these issues.
This is an historic reproduction item. It has been designed following its physical appearance and materials but not in any case to fulfill all the same functions than the original piece. This product isn´t treated for alimentary use.
