This medieval close-fitting tunic without sleeves is tied at frontal part with a solid cotton string with aglets so it can be adjusted to the body.

This Cotehardie is based on medieval ilustrations of the thirteenth century. Before this, woman dresses hid body shapes, but over time, they adjusted more and added details such as laces or buttons in the torso that allowed for a tighter fit or, even, an increased neckline . The Cotehardie was usually combined with a skirt, a veil and a narrow belt.

You can find cotehardie representations examples at Book of Hours of the Duke of Berry or in the book of simple medicine illustrated by Robinet Testard.
